The 2016 Toyota Prius will come this year but not at spring as we before expected. Its production has been pushed to end of 2015. Person that is guilty for that decision is Akio Toyoda, Toyota CEO. Reason for that is a fine tuning for better performance and restyled exterior for more aggressive design that will be more attractive for future buyers. When it come to dilerships, Toyota Prius 2016 should have price lower than 2015 cos the lower production costs.
2016 Toyota Prius redesign
The new 2016 Toyota Prius was originally intended to go on sale this spring. Unfortunately, or we can say lucky for Prius lovers, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda pushed its sale date at the end of the year so the Toyota designers have some time to revamp design of the new Prius. The upcoming Toyota Prius 2016 will probably borrow styling details form the C-HR concept, a compact crossover that had its debut last year at Paris Motor Show. That means that it will also receive “diamond architectures” styling but it will keep its five-door hatchback layout. It will feature more aggressive grille and more sharply-tapered roof line. In order to reduce weight the standard Prius will get aluminum body panels, while the Prius plug-in will get plastic panels that are even lighter. Inside the cabin there will be more room for passengers and their legs and heads.
Toyota Prius 2016 specs
The new 2016 Toyota Prius will continue with this Toyota electric car tradition – 10% improvement on the fuel economy of its predecessor. That means that next generation of Prius with nickel-hydride batteries should have fuel economy rated at 55 mpg, while „Eco“ model with lithium-ion batteries could go up to 60 mpg. It will feature all-wheel drive system and wireless battery charging for the Prius Plug-in.
2016 Toyota Prius release date and price
The release date of the new 2016 Toyota Prius was set back from this spring to end of 2015. With new platform that it will be built on, production cost will be lower than 2015 model. That means that Toyota Prius 2016 price will be lower than price of the current model. The price for 2015 Prius goes from $23,215 for base Prius One and goes up to $34,905 for Plug-in Advanced trim level.
