One of the most popular midsize sedans in US is Toyota Camry. We expect that the next generation, 2016 Toyota Camry, will be built on new platform which will reduce its production cost and enable faster development. The upcoming Toyota Camry 2016 could have new turbocharged 4-inline engine instead large naturally aspirated V-6.
2016 Toyota Camry redesign
The upcoming 2016 Toyota Camry will come only with small changes on its exterior look. Main refreshment will be on front fascia where we can expect new grille design and new bumper that will give it more aggressive look. We can expect LED auto-leveling headlights with sleek-line look. It will probably be built on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. This will help Toyota to reduce costs and duration of development. Inside the cabin base Toyota Camry 2016 will come with audio system with 6-speakers, infotainment system with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, rearview camera with parkassist system, heated side mirrors, air condition. Higher grades will come with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, leather upholstery, pre-collision system, etc.
Toyota Camry 2016 specs
Since we don’t expect that the 2016 Toyota Camry will be significantly updated in near future we can assume that it will be powered by same powerplants that power current model. The 2016 Camry will be available with two engine options. Base engine is the most selling also. It is 2.5-liter 4-inline with 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Stronger engine is 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. Those engines will be also paired with 6-speed CVT automatic transmission and power will be delivered only to front wheels. Same engines should have same fuel economy: 28 mpg for 4-inline and 25 mpg for V-6 engine. There are rumors that the big V-6 engine will be replaced with turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that could be borrowed from Lexus NX 200t. This powerplant is able to produce 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Main benefit of this small displacement turbocharged 4-I engine is lower fuel consumption that could push new Toyota Camry 2016 to lead in the fuel economy race.
2016 Toyota Camry release date and price
The 2016 Toyota Camry release date will be unveiled later this year but we expect to see new Camry on roads in early 2016. Its main competitors will be Nissan Altima, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion. Price of the upcoming Toyota Camry 2016 should be lower than price of the 2015 model and we expect that the base model will cost around $20,000.
