2016 Lexus RX redesign

The 2016 Lexus RX will share its architecture with other Toyota family members like Camry, Avalon, Highlander, and Lexus ES. It will use new aluminum parts like doors, hood and tailgate which will reduce overall weight. It will come bigger for 2016 year model and according to some voices from industry. With stretched body there will be more room for third row seat and that could be first RX with 7 seats since 1998. “We designed the RX to have a high amount of excitement and strength. The lengthened wheelbase and larger tire size result in sporty powerful proportions. Even while ensuring a high level of luxury and space within the cabin, the RX’s silhouette remains sleek and dynamic, while the interior has been designed for easy operation with luxurious execution”, Gen Ikeda, the chief designer of the RX, said.

Lexus RX 2016 specs review

Under the hood of the new Lexus RX 2016 will be proven engines that we can find in current model. Toyota doesn’t want to change too many things with a proven sales winner. This luxury crossover SUV will be powered by 3.5-liter V6 engine with direct injection that produces 300 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. This RX 350 will be available with 6-speed automatic transmission but with Sport badge it gets two speeds more for better fuel efficiency. The 2016 Lexus RX 450h hybrid will come with the same V6 engine in combination with 123-kW electric motor for higher power. This engine delivers 245 horsepower and 234 lb-ft of torque alone but in combination with electric motor they produce 295 total system horsepower. The 2016 RX should have almost same fuel economy like its predecessor which will have fuel economy rated around 25 mpg combined with gasoline engine but with hybrid powertrain it will boost up to 30 mpg combined. This Lexus luxury crossover SUV will come with front-wheel-drive system as standard while the all-wheel-drive system will be available as an option, while Sport trim level will have AWD as standard.
